Gabriela Simionato

Artist & Ceramicist

IMG_8516.jpg

Gabriela Simionato is an artist and ceramicist from Campinas (São Paulo), now based in Salvador (Bahia), where she draws inspiration from the vibrant pulse of the city and its deep-rooted connection to the land and her own origins. Her work in ceramics is an ongoing exploration of social and cultural narratives, touching on themes such as gender equality, childhood in communities affected by violence, and economic disparities.

For Gabriela, clay is more than a material — it is memory, resistance, and transformation. Through her practice, she reinterprets this elemental substance, creating pieces that bridge the artisanal and the conceptual, the tactile and the discursive, offering form to untold stories and collective experiences.

Her education reflects a commitment to expanding her craft: she earned a degree in Design from FAAP – Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado, studied The Infinite Vessel at La Meridiana School of Ceramic in Italy under Rachel Wood, honed her sculpture skills with Israel Kislansky, and deepened her ceramics practice with Bahian artist Dalva Bonfim. She has also collaborated with artist Camille Kachani and worked with Galeria Estação in São Paulo.

Gabriela’s artistic journey is deeply rooted in context — every piece she creates aims not only to represent, but to evoke reflection and emotion, drawing the viewer into a dialogue between place, time, and the enduring stories embedded in clay.
