Choi (b. 1950s) is a Macau-based artist whose career in oil painting spans decades and parallels the evolution of the region’s contemporary art scene. Immersed in the language of abstract landscapes, his work bridges the external world with inner reflection, transforming psychological impressions and lived experience into richly colored, emotionally charged compositions.

Choi’s visual language is rooted in a unique synthesis of modern Western painting concepts and traditional Oriental aesthetics. Drawing inspiration from Chinese calligraphy, ink painting, and seal carving, he integrates poetic simplicity with bold color contrasts and dynamic brushwork. This fusion allows his paintings to convey both the meditative qualities of classical Chinese art and the expressive force of modern abstraction.

Exhibited internationally in Canada, China, Portugal, and Macau, Choi’s work invites viewers on an introspective journey — from the physicality of the landscape to the quiet depths of the soul. His vibrant palettes and lyrical forms create a dialogue between tradition and modernity, offering a contemplative space where emotion, memory, and nature converge.
